“I think the one thing that I always gained from being in the sea and around the sea, around the coast is a real feeling of sort of escapism. I have competed as a long boarder, I never really got the buzz from competing, I know a lot of guys do and that’s their thing but my thing has always been more sort of looking for the next good wave or the next spot that’s empty or you know around the next corner where I can go surfing maybe by myself or with a couple of friends and just get that buzz. I get well looked after with my surfing through Ion and through Fanatic but like I say it’s not down to competition it’s more I think that they just look after me because of my passion for good waves you know, seeking good waves, finding good waves and sort of dedicating a big part of my life in pursuit of them”- Nathan Carter.
